Family Program

The Family Program woks with children from 0-9 years of age who live in suburbs from within the Canterbury and Bankstown Local Government Areas who have been assess by Community Servces to have been harmed or who are at risk of significant harm.

The program’s primary focus is on the safety of these children. Whenever possible we work to maintain children safely with with their families.

When families are referred early enough (not with the child already in care and within a few months of a final court order) our program has an outstanding record in keeping children safe and at home.

The program employs family counsellors and early childhood staff that provide a comprehensive range of therapeutic and practical supports to both the children and their parents individually and through groups.

* When Jannawi was established the rate of child abuse was estimated at 6 children per 10000 children in NSW. This is now estimated to have grown to 100 children per 10,000 (2008/2009).
